Why are the props reversed?

I have been researching this topic but no clear explanation why the 300 props face down?
Looking for a research or academic paper explaining the aerodynamics behind it. Is there truly a performance difference? Or was it aesthetics?

My understanding is to enable the mounting of the RTK and radio antennas. Which are mounted above the motors
