It records a jpeg still from your video stream, at the same aspect ratio, resolution, shutter speed, aperture and colour profile as your video is set to - i.e. It basically does a freeze frame from the video at the point you press the shutter button.
The only way you will get a full res raw dng file from the video stream is to purchase and record with the CinemaDNG license - then each frame is basically a full res still.
And you don't even need bother pressing the photo shutter when rolling, just pull a dng of your choice from the CinemaDNG folders.
