I am settng up my first flight on the controller, I have set my speed and overlap and I see a option for Custom Camera Angle. Do this indicate that the default is 90° down?

Yes, the default is -90 for nadir or straight down.

If do not use the Custom Camera Angle and use all nadir images, make sure you use the Altitude Optimization setting as this will help Terra with vertical accuracy.

Will you be using RTK? If not, it is not a big deal in that your data will look the same, but will just not have real precise/accurate absolute accuracy (As compared to its real life coordinates.).

When you are done any chance you can compare the elevation of the ground to Google Earth? I am curious as to how well Terra can place this with no RTK and just using the non-corrected GNSS data.

Some things to note:

  • As mentioned if using nadir images only, use the altitude optimization
  • If you want a better looking model, use one of the flight plans with oblique images since this will get better views of the sides of things
  • The default overlap of images has worked well for me, I only change them occasioanlly
  • Know how to pause the mission (pause button on screen and controller) in case you need to stop mid mission
  • With the new firmware, the Camera setting Auto with an aperture of 4 works well with crisp, focussed images
  • Do not be alarmed by the altitude listed on the images in the metadata, they are above/below ellispoid elevation not orthometric (Above MSL/Geoid)

Thanks for the info, I an doing a AMA field that is about 10 acers so I have set things lower for my first try, overlapes are set to 80, speed is set to 12 mph, and altitude is at 100'. then I can load it to Terra play with it. Even at this slow setting it should only take 17 minutes.
