Olympus 45mm with or without the hood?

Newbie Questions for my X5S add ons. Anyone using the optional hood? Any advantages for using the hood taking vids or pics? How about proper balance issues with the hood? Does the use of hood prevent use of ND filter or polarizers?

I use a vented hood as I believe the solid one provided by Olympus for the 45mm f/1.8 will capture the wind or prop wash and cause some bad vibes, much like a wind vane.
