I finally received my AVSS PRS (Parachute Recovery System). This PRS makes a Matrice 4 series drone a Category 2 sUAS allowing for legal flights over people and moving vehicles. It does have a Category 2 maximum wind and also a minimum height you must fly.

The most important item is that in around 10 flights it worked as advertised and in my opinion most importantly, did not false deploy, LOL.

The system looks to be hand assembled and has a Category 2 label on it, although the label is pretty much a stamped label maker output simply stating FAA Category 2.
The system must be repacked annually by AVSS and will cost ~ $150 plus a shipping cost.
The system connects through PSDK and you can view its current status live on screen.
It will self deploy when it sense it is free falling and there is also an option for the RPIC to manually deploy, but the RPIC must enable the manual deployment as part of a preflight check.

AVSS provided a list of items to add for when you conduct a preflight check and we have added them to our checklists.
It is easily added on in a minute but does require 2 screws to be added and tightened so you must not lose the small included hex driver.
I am sure it will cut down on top speed and also flight times, but probably not as much as when you fly with the AL1 and AS1 light and speaker payloads.

I will try to show some video of it flying. While I have flown test flights with it, I have yet to exercise my new ability to fly over people or active, busy roadways. This is just to give the option to do so legally more so than to just fly over them just for the sake of doing so.

A final note is I am disappointed that AVSS did no go through with further certification to make it Category 3 for when higher winds void the Category 2 rating. I assume this is to save money since it would require further testing for the rating, but I could be wrong on this.

With this I now have options for flying over people and moving vehicles. The first being this PRS on my Matrice E and also the Neo with the prop guards and a Remote ID module attached making it a Category 1 sUAS.
