Hi all,
Looking for advice or experiences with capturing transmission towers for inspections. Typically, obstacle avoidance hasn't been great with conductors and hoping someone has captured media for towers using either the slope or geometric routes? Or any other automated method. We have hundreds of towers to inspect so seeking to use some type of automation. I know there is other software solutions out there but seeing what can be offered by DJI.

I have never modeled a transmission tower, I have captured a communications tower. Its think skeltal structure was a nightmare to recreate. I flew it twice with the second time being much closer. I ended up with a very noisy point cloud and while the 3D tiled model was cleaner it was missing a lot of data..

The first attempt was using smart oblique to make a Local 3D model and then I used the Smart 3D capture.

The second attempt that came out much better was using Agisoft Metashape Pro. I used the original Smart Obquie images to make a 3D mesh and then used Agisoft's Flight Planner to create a flight path. The tower was 110 feet AGL and the images were taken 20 feet from the structure.
It took around 1000 images.

Gaussian Splatting may work better here.
