There are now two or three drop devices available for the Matrice 4 Series.

This unit features a connection point using the two payload screws on the bottom of the aircraft.
It also uses the PSDK port so that you can control the release through Pilot 2 using the RC Plus 2 controller.

So far I have been very happy with the number of different payload solutions that have become available.

Very nice, this could come in handy at time.

What brand is it?
It is from QZ UAV. They make UAV camera/gimbals, payloads (speakers, lights) tethered system add-ons and drop devices.

I like this one better than the version that clips onto the side since it utilizes the payload screw holes on the bottom.

I already ordered one, I will update this thread after I receive and test it.

I received the drop device and it is a very nice piece of equipment.

It is aluminum and very nicely made. It is light weight (I don't have a scale).

  • Attaches via payload screws on the front bottom of the drone
  • The cable from the device attaches to the USB C port in the rear of the drone, under the battery insert
  • You have two payload drop positions
  • You can unlock the payload positions with switches on the device to load your payloads
  • It functions through PSDK
    • Through the main screen in the 3 dot settings/PSDK
    • Through the PSDK on screen viewer next to the other Matrice 4 Series functions (AI, Smart Track etc.)
  • Upon turning on the drone it is locked, so you must remember to unlock it to be able to release your payloads
  • You can trigger each drop independently, but you cannot drop both with a single command
  • It has added LED lights on the side which can flash and you can change the color of these lights
  • It has a Laser function, but I have not been able to figure out how it works or if it is an addon
  • You can reverse how it is installed to better change center of gravity
  • I am still trying to see if I can assign it to a button on the controller for dropping
  • I hung a payload by paracord 12 feet below the aircraft
    • It slightly showed on the downward obstacle avoidance, so I disabled the downward obstacle avoidance just in case

This easily beats out the old drop devices for older models that needed a sensor to cover lights on the drone to trigger a drop. Using the PSDK makes this see like an OEM addition and it is very well thought out, designed and implemented.

I will have a video of a couple of drops (screen and camera) to show the full process.
