Was flying dji matrice 30t for the second time and lost control of drone about 30 feet away from me and 20 feet AGL. This test was at night and i was trying the spotlight payload. Battery on drone had roughly 30% when problem started and control was at about 25% so within minutes i got warnings saying drone was coming home due to setting being at 20% battery. Control appeared to freeze and I had nothing. After panicking for over 5 minutes I backed out of app and went back in only to regain up and down function and very little side to side. Home button said drone was coming home but it stayed where it was. After batteries got critically low I had no choice but to rough land in a patch of grass. Why did this happen? I got extremely lucky i was over a patch of grass on our property as anywhere else, my drone would likely be toast.
