M4E RTK/NTRIP GCP Work Flow

Hello,

Could someone explain the work flow process using NTRIP directly to the M4E and collecting GCP's. I have connected my M4E controller to NTRIP without issues. The part I'm not understanding is the rover. What system do you connect the rover to for GCP's. If you had a local base station the drone would connect to it and then the rover. With NTRIP direct to the drone what would connect the rover to when collection point? I would think the Emlid Flow app connects to the same NTRIP base.

Once properly collected would you still need any post correcting like you do in Emlid Flow for PPK.
 
Just to provide terminology.

You have a base.
NTRIP is what you are connecting to from a base. A base is sending corrections over NTRIP to a rover.
You could also have your own base like an Emlid RS series. This base can connect to your rovers (M4 drone/Another Emlid GNSS RS series) using NTRIP, Local NTRIP or LoRA (Radio) for Emlid to Emlid only.

A rover can be your M4 drone or a GNSS rover to collect control points.

If you have a GNSS rover, you just connect to NTRIP (Your Base, or an NTRIP service) just like you would your M4 drone.

With your GNSS rover you can then go and collect your control points (GCPs and Check Points).

For PPK, if your NTRIP service provider allows, you can download RINEX logs. If you have your own base, you set it up to save log files (RINEX or UBX). You will also notice that in the folder with your drone images, there are RINEX files in the form of observation and navigation logs. You could use various PPK software, Emlid Studio being one of them, to PPK your results. With all things being equal, PPK should be a more accurate solution than RTK.

No, you do not have to use PPK. But if you do use RTK and something happens, you can go back and try to PPK your results.
