Process for firmware upgrade on standard Inspire 1 after X5 upgrade.

Yeah. I did manage to get the software release notes for version WM610_FC550_FW_V01.02.00.50.bin -- although only as a JPG image (weird?). It does make reference to "only for X5". See the attached file Note 2. Andy

Process for firmware upgrade on standard Inspire 1 after X5 upgrade.

    Here's the sequence with which I did the upgrade: ========== 2014.01.01 00:00:11 remo-con disconnect====== Packet: WM610_FC550_FW_V01.02.00.50.bin Upgrading ... Result: Success. ========== 2014.01.01 00:00:11 remo-con disconnect====== Packet: WM610_FC550_FW_V01.03.00.60.bin Upgrading ...

Process for firmware upgrade on standard Inspire 1 after X5 upgrade.

Thanks, Droider. I'll give it whirl. I still seems faintly odd that it's such a crap-shoot trying to figure out which firmware does what. I'm rather surprised that there's no guidance from DJI -- or maybe there is and I've just not found it. Andy.

Process for firmware upgrade on standard Inspire 1 after X5 upgrade.

I also have the Inspire 1 that originally was sold with the X3 camera and I purchased the X5 as an upgrade. I wanted to update all the firmware for all the subsystems. To do the upgrade I did this: 1. Re-mounted the X3 on the Inspire 1. 2. Downloaded WM610_FW_V01.06.00.40.bin firmware for the...

Final and detailed guide on X5 "lens calibration"

I'm glad it turned out to be a quiet day for me, DrMrdalj -- it allowed me to help a fellow Inspire 1 pilot on the other side of the planet! Andy.

Final and detailed guide on X5 "lens calibration"

I've sent a Conversation message to you DrMrDalj. But thank you so much for taking the time to create this posting. Andy.

    ND Filters for X5?

Keith: I think you might be talking about the so-called hyperfocal distance -- which is usually expressed as a distance from the lens. The "sweet spot" aperture to which you refer is usually the smallest stop before diffraction effects kick in and start to soften the focus of the entire image...

    RE-calibrating camera?

50m? Hmm. That seems quite a long way for it to be the hyperfocal distance. I guess trees without leaves and sky view behind them would work. Or a house more than 50m away would work. Andy.

    ND Filters for X5?

I just tried the B+W ND filter (20 grams) and, at least on the ground and "hand flying" the I1, it seemed to stabilize just fine. Of course, that's not the same as an airborne test -- which I'd be only to happy to do if three things happen simultaneously: 1) I'm not working, 2) it's not raining...

    Perfectly Balanced Filter and Hood

Did you remove the balancing ring as well? Also, any idea how much that polarizing filter weighs in grams? Thanks Andy.

    X5 and Go Professional Cases

When you put the X5 mounting plate on, it will no longer fit into the Go Professional travel mode case -- the front of the X5 plate has two tabs that prevent the I1 from fitting down into the cavity. But... 1. If you invert the I1 and put it into the case upside down AND remove the foam from...

    ND Filters for X5?

I suspect the only way to answer that is to try it. It will all depend on whether the brushless gimbal motors can handle the load and whether the tuning of the motor controllers in the gimbal is still OK. On gimbals like the MoVI, if you change the mass-in-motion, you might see vibration (low...

    ND Filters for X5?

I'm making the inference that, with the gimbal dismounted from the I1, if I remove the lens cap and the camera is statically balanced in tilt and roll (it will stay in any position you put it in), then if you add the filter and a small amount of opposing weight to re-balance to that same...

    ND Filters for X5?

I'm coming to this discussion late, but I have two questions: 1. If you stop down to a smaller aperture than f11 (depending on the lens you might get to f16), will that not cause diffraction effects to soften the image? Sure the DOF increases, and you can force a particular shutter speed to be...

    What exactly do you order?

Thanks Alistair and Alessandro. I'll order up the board. Andy
