Hi,
I recently acquired a Matrice 4T, but I’m having issues with the quality of daytime images. If you look closely at the photos, the images are excessively compressed.
The leaves are no longer distinguishable. (Speed: 4 m/s, altitude: 90 m, resolution: 8K).

On the second one, there's a noticeable "sponge effect." (Speed: 4 m/s, altitude: 30 m, resolution: 4K).

I have noticed this as well and changed the photo resolution to 8k. This sharpened up the image significantly. However, it may be just me, but it does appear that the Mavic 3E and 3T created sharper and larger size images…..!?
Is there a way to decompress the 4k images?

Several people have commented on the images on our drone.

The files are much smaller (compression) and this is most likely why there is a lower quality image.
My thought is this is part of the strategy to make the images save at the faster 0.5 rate instead of the 0.7 of the Mavic 3 E and this helps with uploading images to Flight Hub 2 with the smaller size.

My question is on mapping missions can you choose a higher quality image. I would prefer to have a better image than faster acqusition time.

Firmware could change this to maybe something in between what we have now, and get image quality back in line with the Mavic 3 E.

I conducted tests with 4K and 8K, and the results are similar. I am truly disappointed because my Mavic 3T is far superior.

Yes I noticed this when doing photogrammetry mission in Pilot 2. It defaults to the wide lens at lower resolution (M4E). Very Disappointing. Is anyone aware of a fix for this?
For now I will continue using my M3E.

There was a recent update to the Matrice M4T, which resolved the image smoothing issue.
However, it now occasionally displays text in Mandarin, and the screen closes on its own without the drone abandoning its mission.
In conclusion, the image quality has greatly improved, but stability is still lacking.
We have four Matrice M4Ts in the company, and they all exhibit this behavior

I believe the Matrice M4T is a solid choice.
In France, we use it more regularly. If you'd like, I can ask them for some feedback based on their experience.
Here in Canada, I use it occasionally and it does the job very well.
I also use the Mavic M3T, the Mavic 2EA, and the M200 equipped with a FLIR camera.
If I had to choose, I think the Mavic 3T and the Matrice M4T would be my top picks based on my experience.


At the moment, the Matrice M4T is experiencing some software bugs, but that’s typical with DJI — the first year usually comes with a series of minor glitches.
That said, in terms of longevity and long-term use, I believe the Matrice M4T is still a solid choice.

If the drone's primary use is for photogrammetry, and you need absolute accuracy, then the Matrice 4 E is the better choice.
While you can map with the 4T, it does not implement Time Sync and you will NOT have that "survey grade" accuracy without the use of control points.
Also if the 4T has those large size images like the Mavic 3T and Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced, this will greatly increase your processing time in photogrammetry.

If you are just creating maps and models for relative accuracy, the 4T will suffice, but will still not be as good as the 4 E since the 4/3 CMOS sensor is superior in all ways to the Wide camera on the 4T.

Unfortunately DJI through its clever schemes makes you buy both or have another dedicated photogrammetry drone to have the "perfect" solution.
