A friend purchase a 'used' Inspire 1 with the X5R package. He's done all the usual calibration yet the quad (GPS Mode) seems to want to drift and doesn't want to fly in a straight line. Should the quad be sent back to DJI or a check up? And/or could there be other issues or protocols that need to take place prior to launch?

if it won't fly straight with no wind present, has your friend calibrated the remote? Is your friend familiar with DJI products? Do they have it in GPS mode and not atti

Fly at a low altitude and use the sticks to fly directly away from you, then reverse the stick to see if it drifts when it is coming back to your location with the exact opposite stick movement.

That's the nature of the beast. I've been flying Inspire 1's for a few years and continue to fly them. They are "drifty" at best. The difference between the stabilization properties of Inspire 1 vs. the P4P are pretty profound. The only way that beast is ever going to fly a straight lines is if you use waypoint functions. I made a couple videos on the subject.

Both these videos were made before iPad had the screen record capability. Without an assistant, these were tough to make.
