I'm flying first LiDAR project this week. I'm hoping there's some experts out there who might be able to give me some pointers and other advice to make this first one go as smooth as possible. I'm using my matrice 300 and they are giving me a Zen use L1 to use. My plan is to just use DGI pilot to create the flight path in the settings. Is there anything I need to know about this to make sure it goes as accurately as possible? What about delivery of the files? I've never done any artwork before so unsure of the output. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would ask over at the Reddit UAV mapping forum.
They have a ton of people using the L1 and L2 LiDAR payloads.

I usually fly a 1400mm X8 and a Phoenix lidar, but I started using a Matrice 350 and a L2. So much easier to deploy! The first thing is to know how you will supply gnss corrections. Typically, I'll set a base on a known location and survey in a few targets for elevation checkpoints. Then I'll set that rover on a bipod and put it into base mode, sending corretions via wifi. This way I can terrain follow. In Terra you can actually use your original base to post-process. There's lots of tutorials if you Google it. I think UGCS is free now for flight planning. With the L1 you'll probably want to stay under 80m and an overlap of about 25%. Not sure about the speed for the L1, the L2 can easily capture good data as high as 10m/s. Good luck?
