    X5S Best prime for IQ

This obviously depends greatly on your intended use... I love the Olympus 17mm, but that's because when recording in 4K at 60FPS the crop factor is 2.7 so that is already pretty zoomed in for the autograss racing I have been covering. Lovely sharp lens. I have the 12, 25 and 45 but have barely...

    X5S focus documentation

I haven't found a document (that would be too easy), but believe the threshold refers to the maximum amount of pixels in focus... It is very helpful, in letting you know how much is in focus, however it can also be overbearing as you can find you whole (or large parts) of the screen turning red...

    X5S focus documentation

I'm using the touch screen method with auto focus (tap the screen to focus and it stays there). I'm using an iPad Pro 10.5" but to be honest you can't tell if its clearly focussed from the screen as the resolution just isn't high enough. But with Peak Focus on, you will clearly see.

    X5S focus documentation

There are a number of videos showing calibration etc on YouTube, especially for the X5 and the process is the same for the X5S. However, I never got calibration to work very well and gave up. The best method for focusing I have found so far is tap to focus. Just get up in the air and focus...

    X5S With Lumix 14-42mm

You don't necessarily need the balancing ring, I use a 37mm to 46mm step up ring and then an ND or UV filter. This balances pretty well around the mid point of zoom (although will depend upon which brand of UV/ND you use). However, if you use the balancing ring you will generally be too heavy...

    UK Open event

Great job, well done. Love the overview shot of the whole circuit with cars going round near the start (looks like a top down of a scalextric track :-) Was the engine noise from the day (recorded separately) or stock sounds?

    UK Open event

If it's anything like the autograss racing i've covered it can be quite stressful (with some fun). Races last roughly four minutes with a very short break before the next race (30 seconds to a minute is normal unless there was an incident). This means keeping the bird in the air ready and...

    UK PfCO operation manual questions

I used this NQE for my training but not the ops manual service which they have only just introduced: Additional Services | CUAVA

    UK Open event

We have been covering autograss racing (less than 1000 people) , but with a nice wide oval track and then safety barriers keeping the spectators back we have been able to maintain 50m separation by staying inside or over the nearside of the track. We have used an Inspire 1 with X3 camera...

    UK PfCO operation manual questions

Some NQE's now provide a service where you tell them what UAV(s) you will be using and how and they will do the Ops manual for you, for a very reasonable charge (given the stress it seems to cause everyone). The downside of this of course is the possible explosion of new pilots making it...

What Balance Ring To Use ??

I chose to get a 37 > 46mm step up ring and then use my standard ND filters (or UV) for the 17 and 25mm Olympus lenses. Much cheaper than buying another set of filters. The weight of the step up ring and filter balances perfectly for me.

    X5 camera filters

Not for all lenses! It is for the DJI supplied 15mm plus Olympus 12, 17 and 25, but not for 45 and some others...

    UK Flight Reference Cards (FRC's)

I echo what BCF says - they are specific to you way of operating and the craft you purchase. You should also think about emergency procedures for your craft (although some are likely to be cross craft specific, such as what to do in the case of a battery fire). Think about what you need to...

X5s on Inspire 2 vs P4P for still photography

You also need to consider the lens choice the P4P offers a fixed 24mm lens where as the X5S lets you change lenses and you could go a little wider with the Olympus 9-18, or same with the Olympus 12mm prime, then lots of choice moving to narrower with Olympus 17, 25, 45mm primes. However, the...

UK Permission to fly within 150m of open air assembly

OK, obviously not what I was hoping to hear, although was what I was expecting to hear. Many thanks!
