    Olympus 12mm worth getting?

Are you kidding me? This is THE most used lens of all for anyone that gives a **** about the output! If you plunked down the entry fee for an I2, you **** well better have the wherewithal to by this lens

Panasonic Lumix 14-42mm/3.5-5.6 HD Lens Compatible with X5?

"Looks interesting" until you have to balance it on a gimbal. If this is you first major drone purchase, you are going to have a steep learning curve. You may want to focus more on the primes listed and put the zoom lenses on the back burner for now.

4k video playback in the field

I'm fortunate to have a Surface Pro 2 that has a card slot and horsepower to run 4k as is out of camera with no problem. It also has Pix4D on it for field checks of mapping missions.

    Micro 4/3 cameras

I too have a Lumix G7 with a list of Olympus lenses that go well on the G7 and X5. My earlier days were all about Nikon which now hides in bags at the bottom of the closet. The G7 does a lot for a very reasonable price. the tipping point between the Lumix and Oly was the 4K video. I was always...

If you could have only one lens for the X5

DobMatt, 50' is not sufficient per the recommended method of calibration. 50m is my recollection and also what I used. Yes, I tried to find an easier way on the ground and even drove around looking for that special "high contrast place". Guess what, Right next to me if I looked down from above...

If you could have only one lens for the X5

Hi Dennis, No Lens hood. I used the x3 85% for video. With the X5 / Oly lenses, I find I am no 50/50 video/ pics because of the 16mp sensor. So really, it comes down to filter application for which is my primary flight objective. With video, I start with an ND4 and go up depending on the...

If you could have only one lens for the X5

I have the Oly 12,17,25,&45. I bought the X5 without the DJI lens. The 12 is the go to lens for a couple of reasons; manual focus capability and wide FoV that is not too different from what I was used to w/ X3. I do like and have found uses for the others, but default to the 12 if no special...

So, if you had $1,500 to invest, what non-dji aircraft would you buy?

I am looking at the Matric (from afar) as a possibility because it can be fitted with the X3 camera and most probably the newer FLIR setup due out soon. I still also look at the S900 or S1000+ but have gotten really used to the GO app and Litchi for ground control and live video feed. bay the...

So, if you had $1,500 to invest, what non-dji aircraft would you buy?

I have a 3DR X8+ setup for mapping and use ArduPilot [PC] Mission Planner. very capable package and quite powerful. I use only with a fixed NADIR Canon 260 as of yet. I looked, but couldnt find a comparable gimble setup for a good camera that was even close to my Inspires, so I haven't pursued...

    Lens setups

So far, I have test flown the Olympus 25mm and 45mm. Both work great and deliver exceptional images and video. Balancing each was a minor effort. getting used to the reduced field of view was interesting after so many hours with the X3. I was split on the next between 12 and 17mm Oly, but read...
