Olympus 45mm on X5 and balancing

If the X5S is anything like the X5 or X5R then the camera should be balanced ok on the pitch axis for the 15mm with the balance ring and lens hood on. If you add an ND Filter, it'll be out of balance, unless you remove the hood... which is what I used to do. On the X5R, I've found the 15mm lens...

X5 D-Log not showing Zebra Stripes

I have this issue too and have seen people mention it before. Does your focus peaking work properly in dlog, mine barely does. I'm on a much older firmware though.

    UK Questionable Job

As Editor said, this is UK and there are different rules. I understand the that google maps etc all have satellite images, you can photo from an aircraft etc. My main worry with this was: A) I was fully aware that the property owner would not give me permission to fly, and I needed that...

    UK Questionable Job

Very good point. Yeah, I turned it down. I don't offer surveying, mapping or anything of the sort so this didn't occur to me until mentioned. It initially sounded like a very simple photography job. Thanks for all of the responses guys.

    UK Questionable Job

Yep, I've turned it down. I didn't feel 100% on it and it just wasn't worth a risk for the return I'd get.

    UK Questionable Job

Thanks Editor, My main worry I guess was the data acquisition, as inevitably she will see the photo eventually. If she questions how it was obtained and states that she didn't give permission I just didn't want any comeback on me. I'm not really sure on taking photos of people's back gardens...

    UK Questionable Job

I've been asked to take photos of a property boundary line to settle a dispute between neighbours. They want me to fly from their back garden and take one or two birds eye views so that they may compare this to the deeds and use it as evidence in order to get a back garden fence moved. I am...

Olympus 45mm on X5 and balancing

I absolutely adore it. It's meant to be only for photos, but balanced correctly it's good for video too. You definitely need a camera operator for any complex shots though. It does bobble around a bit but nothing you can't solve with minimal stabilisation in post. I was flying it in Iceland...

Olympus 45mm on X5 and balancing

I use the 45mm on the X5R with the polar pro filters. Got the step up ring off of Amazon quite cheap. On the X5R the light Aluminium step up and polar pro isn't enough to balance the lens. I ended up adding weight to the front until it balanced and making a note of how much weight was needed...

    X5R Camera not centered

Yeah, as McCrea said. On the X5R you remove the pan motor cover and then the board to reveal the nut. The magnetic nut can then be adjusted very slightly left and right to center the gimbal.

UK Whats The Point Of PFAW

Ah, my apologies man. I did not read far enough back.

UK Whats The Point Of PFAW

The CAA has a list of approved operators - CAP1361: Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUA) operators holding a valid CAA permission ...or have I misunderstood?

    Choppy/flickering video (not playback related)

Simply looks like standard 24fps to me. Anything moving that quickly across the frame at 24fps will look like this. It can look smoother with slower shutter speeds... but not much, just gets smeary. You really do have to move painfully slow at 24fps if having a flat subject move straight across...

Anyone else had a dubious looking email claiming to be CAA? (uav insurance title)

Anyone else had a dubious looking email claiming to be CAA? (uav insurance title)

The email address is probably a new one created specifically for this issue. It follows their usual pattern, as in "[email protected]" I haven't read it fully yet so can't comment on how it reads, but from a brief look over it at work the gist I got was that they weren't asking for any...
