    Warning to all X5 owners

Same as myself, I should have mine back Tuesday this week, applied for RMA on 17th so 2 weeks exactly if it turns up this week. Payment by papal. Absolutely faultless. TBH, this has restored some faith! Still cost me another £2500 though, bought a spare PRO in the mean time for EpicTV in...

    Warning to all X5 owners

Snap....today.. (:<) pun intended. My fault, chasing wakeboarder round a slight corner, tree jumped out. Aircraft fine. Lucky it landed (or crashed into, more precisely) and stayed in the tree and didn't fall to the water below... Yes, my lucky day!! Interested in replies for UK / Europe...

    UK The dreaded "congested area"

I now cross roads (including the M4), at a reasonable pace, and at, say 80-100M. I don't loiter over them or within the statutory 50M. The way I see it is I am mitigating risk, also, the higher and faster you travelling the less likely noticed and be a distraction to motorists. I don't have a...

    X5R 1080p RAW issues

No, that's not correct, that's not how downscaling works in camera. I think I would rather have 1280P @ 60Mb/s pixelbinned than 4K @ 60Mb/s straight. Unfortunately 1280 on X5 OOC, I've found is pretty average to dire and downscaling in PP is currently the way to go.

DJI X5 Lens Test Olympus 14-42mm

^^ http://www.scantips.com/lights/fieldofview.html may help you with field of view. So at 10M distance the sensor will cover 3.8M horizontal distance with a 45mm lens, 14M with 12mm lens. IMO, the 45MM lens may be too restrictive, you lose definition as you move away. 14-42 looks ideal for...

    RAW DAS/NAS Storage

Great stuff!! Be interested to know how you're going to configure that (which raid level) and what you're going to back it up to. Personally, I just bought cheap 8TB seagates, created one big disk on a linux box and incrementally backup on a nightly basis. It saved me though, I did...

    RAW DAS/NAS Storage

^^ Yes, the above was a late night typo. There is 10Gb ethernet around but just a little on the dear side at the mo. (X520-DA2). This would work fine unswitched, client to server.

    X5R: USB2 vs USB3

Someone needs to knock up a sata adapter for this, shouldn't be that difficult. Most PC's can hot swap sata these days and theoretical speed is in the range of 6T/sec.

    RAW DAS/NAS Storage

Whatever you get, you've then got to decide how you back <that> up. Raid 1 may mirror, so a drive can fail and OK, but it won't help any sort of file or partition corruption which could be catastrophic. For photography, I work off raid 1 on a linux box over gigabyte ethernet - that's fine...

    x5 as a camera

The 45 has a nice perspective for panos - much more pleasing to the eye than the wide lenses. The front row of houses were 1/2 mile away and the building back center about 2 miles. Higher shutter may have helped, the softness is down to camera shake, not focus or anything else. Shame the X5...

    x5 as a camera

I did a pano today with the 45mm - just messing about. At a reasonable resolution it's OK. High res one is here...

    Olympus 45mm issue

Apart from having to pan slowly which is expected, I have no problem with the combination. I don't use the 'infinity' focus thing though, so to all intents the lens remains uncalibrated.

    x5 as a camera

^^ If I could start again I would go that route, I was so close when I bought the inspire, but as a newbie then, the inspire was probably the right machine and to be fair probably is for a little while longer. Never been at all happy with the M4/3 cameras, something bigger is inevitable at some...
